3...2...1...We have lift off! New Sports Hall Microsite Launch

posted on

After months of hard work, the Brantford and Area Sports Hall of Recognition is delighted to officially announce the launch of the new Sports Hall microsite, www.brantfordareasportshall.ca.

The goal of the site is to represent the athlete Inductees with pride and provide visitors with a quick and easy way to learn all about the Brantford and surrounding area athletes and sports community builders who have achieved national and international prominence in a wide variety of sports.

Of course you can learn about our local hockey hero, Wayne Gretzky, but you can also learn more about Olympians such as Debbie Miller Brown who, competed in athletics in 1968, at just 17 years old. What about 2017 Inductee Bill Morgan who, at 15, was introduced to judo while competing in the 1990 World Games for the Blind in Assen Holland as a wrestler. Bill went on to be the 1999 Pan-American Champion in Judo! There are so many more inspiring local athletes just like these and they’re stories are now online.

The Inductees and Honourees are categorized by sport and then by the year they were inducted into the Hall. Each Inductee and Honouree profile displays a brief biography, profile photo, and in a number of cases, memorabilia and links to their Sports Hall interview on the new Sports Hall YouTube channel!

The new site also provides visitors

  • the ability to nominate future Inductees and Honourees through the ease of the online forms in the Nominations portion of the site;
  • opportunity to stay current with all the exciting and inspiring community events and Sports Hall happenings with a new blog;
  • the annual Sports Hall Induction Ceremony information as well as photos from the previous year’s event;
  • a 360 virtual tour;
  • a history of the Sports Hall, and more!

As well as these new features, the site includes integrated social media buttons for Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. We invite you to visit the Brantford and Area Sports Hall of Recognition, inside the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre, and share your photos and experiences on social media using #BASportsHall.

We hope you’ll visit the new site and enjoy learning all about local athletes and sport builders that continue to inspire greatness in the community and beyond.
